About
Onym is an offline thesaurus and dictionary for the desktop, built on Princeton University's WordNet, the lexical database of English.
Look up a word and Onym shows its meanings, its synonyms and antonyms, and the relations that connect it to other words, what it is a kind of, its kinds, and the wholes and parts it belongs to — each as a tree you can expand.
Onym is a native GTK application and shares the onym-engine Rust core with Onymdroid; its behaviour derives from Artha. The complete WordNet 3.0 database is bundled in, so every lookup is instant and works entirely offline. Onym is free software under the GPLv3.
